Truist Skin Care update: 10/8/2014

Hi,

Sorry for the lengthy review!

So, I received a sample of Trusit Skin Care this past Saturday.  Now after immediately trying the socks (you can find my review for them Here ) I tried two of the three lotions that came with it, later that evening I used the over night cream,. The samples came in a 1.5oz bottle each. They were the overnight lotion,  strengthening serum, and sunscreen.  (I attempted to take pictures, but I think I need new camera batteries)

First one I used was the sunscreen, I apparently made a mistake you are not supposed to put the sunscreen on first! Oh well, I live in Washington and I have been sick the last few days stuck indoors, so I really haven't had a need for sunscreen. With that being said, it smells like your regular drugstore sunscreen. Nothing special there, the feeling was fine. It didn't make me itch, or breakout. This one is probably my favorite of the three samples I received.

The other two I have been using daily, the strengthening cream I put on after I wash my face in the morning, the over night cream right after I wash my face at night.

With that being said, as soon as I used them. I noticed the smell, and I couldn't place it at first. The booklet that came with it, says right away you'll notice the botanical smell. Not exactly how I would describe it. It is not a terrible smell, however after some discussion on a Facebook group one gal did mention it smelled like calamine lotion, and since I happened to have a bottle on hand I compared.

Results: The overnight cream was close, but not quite
The strengthening cream, was nearly identical however, the calamine lotion had a softer more milder scent, then the truist creme. The truist, was stronger more pungent.

The feeling of them both was much the same. I used two pumps for a nickel sized amount, and would spread it out evenly on my hands, before putting on my face. The first feeling I got was that it felt slightly greasy, and based upon what others have said they felt that it is too. For me, it feels like it is laying on top of my skin, almost like a film. While my skin is softer, and my color seems to have evened out, and somewhat brighter. I don't see much of an improvement like they suggest. They both do feel itchy, but being that I have very sensitive, acne prone,  combination skin. I didn't think too much of it. The feeling I get after a while, reminds me of when you use talcum/baby powder, or for anyone who has used powdered gloves. That feeling if your hands were sweaty before putting them on, and kinda sweaty still when you take them off. It's a little odd.

Overall: I'm going to continue using this, since it was free. I want to see if maybe my skin just needs to get used to it, or if nothing will happen. Unless something changes, I don't see myself actually purchasing this. I would like to try their soft microscrub, or cleansing cream though. I just can't justify spending that much on something I am not in love with. (Believe me, I refuse to buy my smash-box foundation at full price!) You may purchase truist skin care products on their website http://www.truistskincare.com/ I will however be purchasing those socks again... and maybe the hand ones too!
